From his time as a law student at the University of Windsor, Graham Zoppi was always destined to be a criminal defense lawyer. His path to the criminal courtroom was headlined with a selection to represent his law school’s team in the Gale Cup, which is an event that brings together the country’s best young litigators for a national level competition. In addition, his hard work during his time at the University of Windsor earned him a declaration as the best young litigator in the prestigious Zuber Moot.
Upon graduating near the top of his class from law school, Graham Zoppi began his career as a criminal defense lawyer for the judges of the Superior Court of Ontario. His prestigious position of “articles of clerkship” frequently brought him into close contact with the judiciary. This experience monumentally enhanced his familiarity with what goes on behind closed doors and his understanding of the decision making process of the court.
When he finished his articles with the judiciary, Graham Zoppi was hired by the Crown as the assistant Crown Attorney with the Ministry of the Attorney General. In his time with the Crown, some of his duties included conducting bail hearings and criminal trials.
He also spent considerable time handling appeals at the Ontario Court of Appeal, which is the highest court in the province. In his experience as a former prosecutor, Graham Zoppi has gained many insights into cases that are not typically available to many other criminal lawyers.
Following his extensive experience with the Crown, Mr. Zoppi made a significant move to the private bar. He became a part of the prominent and renowned firm of Blake, Cassels, and Graydon. The firm was privileged to make Mr. Zoppi an integral part of their top tier litigation department.
His experience with Blake, Cassels, and Graydon exposed him to criminal, quasi-criminal, and Ontario Securities Commission matters. Additionally, he handled other white-collar fraud and negligence cases.
In his time with the firm over the last ten years, Graham Zoppi has dedicated his focus to practicing solely criminal defense law. He is a regular staple in the courtrooms at all levels of court in Ontario. This includes the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court, and the Court of Appeal.
Throughout his private criminal defense career, Mr. Zoppi has remained committed to providing his clients with the best defense possible. This commitment led a retired provincial court judge to dub him as “one of the best young criminal lawyers” in the city.
If you are in need of an experienced and committed criminal defense lawyer in the greater Ontario area, you need the skill and acumen of a highly regarded criminal defense lawyer such as Mr. Graham Zoppi!
